Best Mahonias for the PNW, with Dr. Ross Bayton

An In-person Class

Tickets for this Event are Sold Out

Grapes of Wrath

The Oregon grape genus Mahonia is chock full of excellent garden plants. From our native ground cover Mahonia nervosa, to the many popular Mahonia x media hybrids such as 'Charity', this group offers evergreen, elegant, deer-resistant foliage, flowers in almost every calendar month, and cascades of grape-like berries. Easy to grow, they require minimal maintenance and often thrive in dry shade - what's not to love? Join Heronswood Asst. Director Ross Bayton for a tour of our large Mahonia collection, where he'll discuss pruning, propagation and his selection of the best varieties for Pacific Northwest gardens.

All in-person classes are limited to 15 attendees in order to facilitate social distancing. Masks must be worn. A significant portion of this class is held outside, so attendees should dress appropriately. Class may be rescheduled in the event of bad weather.
