An In-person Class
Finding fertile fronds
The Pacific Northwest is known for its extraordinary ferns and Heronswood has one of the finest collections around! Learn about the unique and sometimes intimidating methods of propagating ferns in this primer lead by Heronswood founder Dan Hinkley and Assistant Director Riz Reyes. Study the basics of how ferns grow and develop; gain a better understanding of how different species naturally reproduce and then have your hand in the process to collect, prepare and sow your own spores. The class will also delve into fall fruit collection and seed sowing.
All in-person classes are limited to 20 attendees to facilitate social distancing. Masks are recommended, but not compulsory. A significant portion of this class is held outside, so attendees should dress appropriately. Classes may be rescheduled in the event of bad weather.
